Australians evacuate as cyclone approaches

February 1, 2011 12:00:00 AM PST
Thousands of people along Australia's northeastern coast have been ordered to evacuate as potentially deadly cyclone approaches.

The military is already airlifting hospital patients out of the danger zone.

Cyclone Yasi is packing winds up to 155 mph and is expected to arrive late Wednesday.

Up to three feet of rain could fall in Queensland, which is already saturated from months of disastrous flooding. The floods have killed at least 35 people.
