Tweeting humanoid robot may be sent to space

February 17, 2011 12:00:00 AM PST
Astronauts aboard the International Space Station may soon be getting a little company in the form of a tweeting robot.

Japan's space agency is thinking about sending a talking humanoid robot to watch the mission while the crew is asleep.

The robot will monitor their health and stress levels and communicate to earth through Twitter.

The mission being considered is for 2013.

Japan doesn't have a manned space program of its own, but its astronauts have been part of the International Space Station crew.
