Royal Wedding: will you wake up early to watch?

A lot of viewers on our Facebook page say, "Yes, absolutely". Some are even hosting watch parties. 13abc reporter Christine Long says, "My mom is in town. She's waking me up early. She remembers watching Princess Diana get married and I simply want to see Kate's dress."

But at UT Thursday night, we couldn't find any excitement for the Royal Wedding. Dave Welton, says, "No. I wouldn't wake up at 4 am to see any wedding. Not even mine!" This dad's lack of excitement is the complete opposite of the frenzy across the pond.

In London, dedicated royal watchers got a surprise on the eve of the Royal Wedding -- a visit from Prince William. He emerged from his residence to greet the well-wishers gathered along the processional route. For some, this is a second chance to witness history.

Sue Costar, 81, says, "I bought this hat outside St Paul's Cathedral when Lady Di and Prince Charles got married 30 years ago. So I've kept this for 30 years waiting for this day."

Police in London say they've arrested 3 people who said they were planning to attend the Royal Wedding. Scotland Yard says the suspects are being held on suspicion of conspiracy to cause public nuisance and breach of the peace.

Back stateside, many on the UT campus simply don't understand what's the big deal. "I don't even know who they are," says Genova Hooker, freshman at Start High School. When asked if he planned to wake up early and watch the wedding, UT freshman Raphael Egziapher replied, "No, I do not. I am definitely going to be sleeping in." And Ben Bourey, another UT freshman, says, "It's not a big deal to me even though they're royal. I'm American, not British."

We did actually find one "maybe". Jasmine Williams, sophomore at Start High School, said, "Maybe when I'm eating my breakfast I might be interested because I wake up at 5 a.m."

You may not care, but bookies in Britain say they could see more than $1.6 million worth of wagers on the Royal Wedding. People are betting on how long Kate will make William wait at the aisle, what color the queen will wear to the wedding, and will Harry be sober enough to deliver the best man's speech?
