The Consumer Product Safety Commission announced Friday that the manufacturers are voluntarily recalling the covers because they could pose a possible entrapment or drowning hazard to swimmers.
The manufacturers are Arizona-based A&A Manufacturing and Color Match Pool Fittings, California-based AquaStar Pool Products Inc. and Waterway Plastic, Georgia-based Custom Molded Products, New Jersey-based Hayward Pool Products, North Carolina-based Pentair Water Pool and Spa and Tennessee-based Rising Dragon USA.
The drain covers were made between December 2008 and April 2012.
"The recalled covers are marked with the wrong flow rating. But pool operators and home owners should contact the maker of the drain cover to see what action if any is needed to make their pool or spa safe," said Inez Tennenbaum with the Consumer Product Safety Commission
Owners should immediately contact the manufacturer to receive a replacement or a retrofit.
