People, Place and Things: eScapes

MONROE, Michigan "We had this idea floating around in our heads for about ten years." It's called eScapes and it's a cable network. Owner Bob Oklejas says, "It combines the radio, the voice, and music if radio with high definition television. You can watch as you please, no plot, no dialogue just a relaxing experience."

The eScape channel turns your HDTV into a window with an amazing view. General Manager Jon Oswald says, "I can show you the sunrise in Paris, mid-day in Budepest. I can show you the sunset in Chicago."

The 13 minute scenes mimic the way you'd scan the horizon of the gorgeous locals. There's no quick editing or jerky camera work, no plot; just music and video kind of like MTV for people who need a moment of Zen.

"We haven't encountered anyone who hasn't loved it. Not just liked it, loved it."

The escape network is also available online. The company is meeting with cable providers nationwide and soon every family with a HDTV and cable could enjoy an eScape escape to any gorgeous scene in the world.
