Bratton, who also served as police chief in New York and Boston, is known for quelling gang activity.
Bratton said he received a phone call from Prime Minister David Cameron asking him whether he would consider becoming a consultant for British police. He said they are still in talks and a formal agreement hasn't been finalized.
Bratton left the Los Angeles Police Department in 2009 and is now a private security firm executive.
Meantime, it was relatively calm overnight on the streets of Britain, but there was chaos of a different kind in the British courts as law enforcement started to prosecute those involved in the recent riots.
British police said they have charged more than 1,000 people with violence, disorder and looting.
At least one of those is being charged with murder after a 68-year-old man was found in a London street after confronting some of the rioters.
Courts in London and other major cities stayed open through the night in order to process those arrested.
