Tickets voided for drivers who honked near Kelly Thomas protest

FULLERTON, Calif.

The drivers were cited for making excessive noise for honking near a "Justice for Kelly Thomas" protest.

Thomas is the mentally-ill homeless man who died after a violent confrontation with Fullerton police officers.

Police said they were just doing their job in citing the drivers for excessive honking, but they decided to void the tickets because the drivers didn't realize their excessive honking was illegal.
