Brad Pitt was honored as best actor at the New York Film Critics Circle Awards for his work on "Moneyball" and "The Tree of Life" on Monday night.

He and longtime partner Angelina Jolie stepped out onto the red carpet in New York City for the Critics Circle dinner.

"The Artist" received the award for best picture, and "Artist" director Michel Hazanavicius was named best director. Meryl Streep received the award for best actress for her work in "The Iron Lady."

Pitt was also honored with the Desert Palm Achievement Award at the Palm Springs International Film Festival on Saturday for his performances in "Moneyball" and "The Tree of Life."

"Both of them, you know, almost didn't get off the block. And for it to resonate like this ... it's quite a nice feeling," Pitt said.

Pitt's "Tree of Life" co-star Jessica Chastain was honored as best supporting actress.
