101-year-old man missing from home; LAPD asking for public's help

LOS ANGELES

Lazaro Gamez lives alone in the 4300 block of Willowbrook Avenue in Los Angeles. A caregiver who usually checks in on Gamez has not heard from him since Wednesday, April 18. When the caregiver went to Gamez's house at about 6:30 p.m. Saturday, no one was home. That's when the caretaker contacted police.

Authorities say Gamez suffers from dementia and is in poor mental condition. Gamez is described as a Hispanic man with gray hair and brown eyes. He is about 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighs about 110 pounds.

He walks with a cane, and officials say he frequently visits the 99 Cent Only store at 3600 West Sunset Blvd as well as the Grand Central Market in downtown L.A. Officials say there was no evidence of any foul play in Gamez's disappearance.

If you have any information about his whereabouts, you're urged to contact LAPD's Rampart Divison at (213) 484-3400 or (877) LAPD-24-7.
