MANCHESTER, N.H. (KABC) -- Bret Michaels is on the mend after suffering a medical emergency on stage, during a concert at the Palace Theatre in New Hampshire Thursday night.
The rock star had to be rushed from the stage three songs into the show. A crew member says Michaels, a Type 1 diabetic since childhood, had extremely low blood sugar.
"Unable to keep substance in his system, complications with his insulin levels and inability to balance his blood sugar levels arose," Michaels said in a statement via Facebook.
Michaels, 51, returned to the stage to let fans know he couldn't continue performing before he was rushed to Catholic Medical Center.
He later thanked the paramedics who helped him on Twitter. "No words can thank you enough for ur help," his team tweeted and posted on Facebook.
