MONROVIA, Calif. (KABC) -- The Gold Line operations campus isn't up and running yet, but officials are touting it as the "gold standard" for energy and water efficient design
The 24-acre campus will house the Gold Line and other Metro rail cars. It will also be used to oversee operations.
"This will be a model for the future. There's never been a 'gold standard' facility ever designed," said Habib Balian, CEO of Foothill Gold Line Construction Authority.
Some of the sustainable elements include solar panels, recycled materials and storm water management, which will use recycled and reclaimed water for washing rail cars.
