LAPD detective charged with witness intimidation, false imprisonment

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A Los Angeles Police Department detective has been charged with intimidating a witness and false imprisonment that involved an off-duty sexual relationship she had with a man she met online, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office.

Christine Wycoff, 44, is scheduled to be arraigned on Feb. 22 at the Foltz Criminal Justice Center. She was arrested Thursday by LAPD officers and then posted a $150,000 bail.

Wycoff allegedly began a sexual relationship with a man she met in June 2014. It lasted several months, but when it deteriorated she is suspected of making repeated threats against the man, who reported it to the LAPD.

During the LAPD's internal investigation, Wycoff is suspected of threatening the victim that if he cooperated with the police, she would accuse him of domestic violence.

Authorities said she later filed a report with the Torrance Police Department that the man had sexually assaulted her. He was arrested, but later released.

The D.A.'s office charged her with false imprisonment for having caused the man's arrest by creating a false report of a crime and with dissuading a witness on suspicion of making threats during an LAPD internal investigation.

If convicted, Wycoff faces up to four years and eight months in state prison. The case remains under investigation by the LAPD.
