Suspected gunman sought after shooting in downtown Riverside
Police are on the hunt for a suspected gunman after a person was shot at White Park in downtown Riverside, according to the Riverside Police Department.

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (KABC) -- Police are on the hunt for a suspected gunman and an accomplice after a person was shot at White Park in downtown Riverside, according to the Riverside Police Department.

Officers responded to initial reports of an active shooter shortly after 11 a.m. in the 3900 block of Chestnut Street. The first officer to arrive at the scene determined there was no active shooter.

The preliminary investigation determined two men got into a fight inside the park. During the fight, one of the men fired multiple rounds at the other person, hitting him. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital in grave condition.

A witness said a man and a woman approached another man, got into an argument and the male suspect then opened fire on the other person. Another witness working at a nearby construction site said people in the area began running after the shots rang out in the park.

No description of the suspect was provided. The investigation was ongoing.
