TEMECULA, Calif. (KABC) -- A suspect wanted in the murder of a man near a Temecula gas station was tracked down and found hiding in a restaurant bathroom, officials said.
Deputies with the Riverside County Sheriff's Department said they responded to a fight at the Circle K on Temecula Parkway at about 10:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
When deputies arrived, they found a man stabbed to death in a field next to the gas station.
Officials said a K9 team picked up the scent of the suspect and led deputies to a bathroom in a restaurant about a mile away from the crime scene.
The sheriff's department said the suspect, a man who was not identified by officials, was found hiding in the bathroom and detained.
Authorities stated a woman with the suspect was also detained.
The male suspect was arrested and held on $1 million bail. Officials said the woman was not arrested.
Homicide detectives did not provide a motive for the fatal stabbing or the victim's identity.
