ORANGE, Calif. (KABC) -- One person was killed and another was severely burned following an overnight fire in an apartment building in the city of Orange.

The blaze was first reported at around 11:15 p.m. Thursday in the 200 block of West Lincoln Avenue at the Santiago Apartments. It took about 50 firefighters approximately 30 minutes to knock down the flames.

Investigators said an elderly man was killed in the fire, and an elderly woman was badly injured. She was transported to an area hospital, where she was being treated at the burn unit and listed in critical condition.

Authorities said the man and woman lived in the same apartment unit, but their relationship has not been confirmed.

According to Capt. Casey Fieldhouse, a total of six apartment units were damaged, with two units completely destroyed. Around 20 residents living in those units have been displaced. They were receiving aid from the Red Cross.
