RIVERSIDE, Calif. (KABC) -- Police arrested eight people for illegal street racing in Riverside, authorities said Sunday.
Some of the suspects were driving on suspended licenses, police said. In addition, 12 people were cited for being spectators, and seven cars were towed.
The arrests were part of the Street Racing Enforcement operation, which involved several law enforcement agencies. The operation recently began after the Riverside police noticed an increase in complaints about street racing, including near Palmyrita and Iowa avenues.
Authorities urge anyone who witnesses street racing to contact local law enforcement.
