LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A maritime polar air mass is blowing down from the north, bringing cold temperatures to some parts of Southern California over the weekend.
Santa Ana winds and a warmup may arrive later next week, bringing an elevated fire danger.
Los Angeles and Orange counties on Sunday can expect a high temperature of 71 degrees, dropping to 45 overnight.
Valleys and the Inland Empire will see a high of 69 degrees on Sunday. A warmup later in the week will bump up those temperatures into the mid to upper 70s.
Beach communities will be sunny and cool with a temperature high of 66 degrees on Sunday. Temperatures will stay in the 60s until a slight warmup towards the end of the week.
Mountains will be sunny and cold Sunday, with a high of 46 degrees, dropping to 20 degrees overnight.
Desert communities will be sunny Sunday with a high of 61, though Palm Springs may get as warm as 75. A gradual warmup is expected later in the week.
