SoCal temperatures cool off just in time for Memorial Day weekend
LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Memorial Day is often considered the unofficial start of summer, but it might not feel like it as the May gray sticks around and Southern California cools off.
Most areas will see thick marine layer clouds in the morning hours over the next few days. The clouds will start to clear in the afternoon around 1 p.m. or 2 p.m.
With that, temperatures are about 6 to 12 degrees cooler than we normally see across Southern California this time of year.
Los Angeles and Orange counties Sunday can expect a high of 72 degrees and a low of 57. Expect several days of partly-cloudy skies and temperatures in the 70s after that.
The valleys and the Inland Empire Sunday will see some cloudy skies in the morning, followed by sun and a high of 78 degrees. The morning clouds will stick around a couple days, but after that, the sunshine will begin to warm temperatures back up.
Beaches Sunday will also see some morning clouds and afternoon sunshine amid a high of 68. Similar temperatures are on tap for the next several days.
The mountains Sunday will be sunny with a high of 71 and a low of 40.
The deserts Sunday can expect a high of 87 degrees, with Palm Springs reaching a high of 99. Similar temperatures are expected for the next few days.
