Flint boxer returns home

FLINT Following Fridays knock out of boxer Jimmy Campbell, near Las Vegas, Flint boxer Anthony Dirrell came home to a crowd of well-wishers, including his mom and brother, fellow boxer Andre Dirrell.

In 2006, Anthony battled non-hodgkins lymphoma. Since completing chemotherapy in 2008, he's set a torrid pace in the ring. Right now, Anthony is 19-0.

"I went through a two year cancer layoff basically," Anthony said. "[God] wouldn't put you through anything you can't handle and I handled it."

On Friday, Anthony, a Super Middleweight said he showed Campbell who's the superior fighter. "I think I intimidated him before the fight even started and I saw that so I just attacked him."

Anthony trains in Flint and was surprised by the reception at his homecoming. "I love the Flint people .... they supported me every way on Twitter and Facebook, so I'm thankful for that."

Anthony will fight again next month in Texas. A win could propel him into the WBC's top 10.
