Southern Ohio college evacuated after threat

CINCINNATI Mount St. Joseph spokeswoman Betheny Herr (HUR) says the lockdown ended after authorities found nothing on campus that would threaten safety. She says the school has resumed classes and other activities, but will proceed with a "heightened presence of security."

She said the school was locked down around noon Friday in response to the letter that threated violence to the college. Classes were canceled and campus police evacuated and searched the campus with the help of police from neighboring townships.

Herr declined to provide more details on the letter because it remains under investigation.

She says 2,400 students are enrolled at the private Catholic college.
