Officials said 70 patients were evaluated at the scene and 12 were taken to area hospitals with minor complaints.
The incident happened around 9:15 p.m. at a warehouse facility on the 20900 block of South Maciel Avenue. The warehouse is owned by Brookvale International.
Hazmat crews are investigating the cause of the irritating odor.
