RESEDA, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Police say four men impersonating police officers tricked a woman and made off with $20,000 worth of jewelry, cash and other items in Reseda Friday night.

Los Angeles Police Department Sgt. David Madof said the men knocked on the door of the home in the 19400 block of Vanowen Street around 8:15 p.m. and identified themselves as police officers.

They wore clothing and police patches that led the woman to believe they were law enforcement officers. They also held up a piece of paper, which they said was a search warrant, and ordered her to wait in a rear bedroom as they searched her home.

The suspects fled the home with cash, jewelry and miscellaneous items including backpacks with a total estimated value of $20,000, Madof said.

The woman was not injured. The investigation is ongoing.
