New scoliosis treatment works without surgery

Many children treated for scoliosis require surgery to attach a metal rod to the spine that straightens the back as it grows. However, as children grow up, that rod needs to be extended and surgeries become more frequent.

A new magnetic device allows doctors to make adjustments without surgery. One doctor called it a game-changer.
