Police say the home was located near a high school, a middle school and a nursery school.
"This amount of fireworks, without a doubt, if detonated, would cause a potential problem for the citizens here, and we probably would have lost at least two or three houses as a result of an explosion," according to Assistant Chief John Cabala of the Alhambra Fire Department.
A special multi-agency task force was called in to haul the explosives away.
If you see illegal fireworks in your neighborhood, you're urged to call your local police department.
