Demolition work begins on Friday night on the southern side of the heavily traveled Sunset Boulevard bridge. Detours will be in place.
Work begins at about 9 p.m. for six consecutive nights, with ramp closures as early as 7 p.m. Sunset Boulevard will be closed in both directions. The northbound 405 will also be closed on Friday night.
The billion-dollar project will eventually ease congestion and improve safety on the 405.
