Joyful music can improve heart function

November 11, 2008 12:00:00 AM PST
Listening to certain types of music can actually make your heart function better. That's a finding that came out Tuesday from an American Heart Association meeting. It's not just any music -- it's what scientists described as "joyful music".

Doctors found listening to 30 minutes of happy music relaxed arteries, which in turn, increased blood flow to the heart.

They also found that music worked better at increasing blood flow than other types of audio, like relaxation tapes.
