VC cop punched at domestic disturbance call

June 22, 2010 12:00:00 AM PDT
A Ventura police officer was injured attempting to separate a husband and wife during a domestic disturbance Sunday. Investigators say when the officer arrived in the 300 block of West Simpson Street at around 7:48 p.m., he attempted to separate the couple but the husband punched him in the face.

The officer wrestled 42-year-old Ramon Solis to the ground in order to stop the attack, police said. As the officer tried to control the suspect, 18-year-old Sandra Solis jumped on top of the officer, police said.

The officer struggled with both suspects until other responding Ventura police officers arrived to assist.

The injured officer was taken to a local hospital and later released. The two suspects were also taken to the hospital for moderate injuries. They were later released and booked on felony charges at Ventura County Jail.
