SEAL BEACH, Calif. (KABC) -- Five young girls were seriously injured in a horrific crash in Seal Beach Saturday that was allegedly caused by a man who was fleeing from police, according to a witness.

The crash was reported at 7:14 p.m. on Pacific Coast Highway at Main Street.

All five girls got out of one of the vehicles before firefighters arrived, according to authorities. They were sent to local trauma centers where their conditions remain unknown.

Kevin O'Rourke, a witness who saw the aftermath of the crash, told Eyewitness News the suspect was fleeing from police at a high rate of speed when he ran a red light and crashed into the girls' car, which was reportedly making a turn at the intersection.

"He was going like 80 miles an hour and not even looking and just like running red lights all the way to Sunset Beach to here," he said. "I ran up to him and he was already to the car, he was like 10 feet away from me, and asked him if he was okay, and he looked back and he just kept on going. Then I went to the other car and oh my God, it was like five teenage girls, they were real young. The driver, she was like in a lot of pain, moving around. I looked in the back where the car got hit, and she was like knocked out and she had blood coming out of her mouth, and I didn't know exactly what to do."

The suspect reportedly took off and has not been found. The incident remains under investigation.

Anyone with information is urged to contact police.
